Got a call from the trucking company earlier, trying to setup a delivery appointment for tomorrow. Of course, the snowblower was due here yesterday...

And, of course, it's coming on an 18 wheeler. I had to explain to the dispatcher that while I've had 40' trailers deliver here (my flagpole) there ain't no way in hell a 52' can swing the turns. Dispatcher said it was a 48' and I said "No way", so we agreed they'll call me when he gets in the area tomorrow and I'll meet up with the driver in a big parking lot just up the road and transfer it to my truck.

The fire in Harvey was covered in another thread, but I can't remember the title. Basically what happened was I went to get my new tires mounted and balanced and he wouldn't start afterwards. Just cranked but wouldn't catch. Then, the cranking got a lot slower and I smoked the battery cable when the starter seized up.

Took 4 hours to get a tow truck big enough to handle it, then $125 to have it towed about 1200 feet to my friend's shop. New cable and high torque starter (lifetime warranty) came to $580. He cranks like a champ now, and catches within a second or two.

I feel you pain Bernie, but I was opposite of you. When I had my home based eBay biz, I'd have 53 footers bring my my merch. I'd get a call. "Hey You Live in a residential neighborhood? " We can't deliver there with a 53ft trailer. I had to talk them into it. They block 1/2 of my house, the house next door, and part of the house 2 houses down, but I never had a problem with my neighbors and the big trucks, because guess who was their computer tech support guy??? Yep, ME !!! And my neighbors see the big truck they come running to help unload and see all the new goodies, and the neighbor teens always coming running cuz they'd come help unload. Being I didn't have a forklift, it was all hand unloaded. So the ex wife would order 3 large pizza's, feed the kids and the truck driver for helping, and I stood and watched with my clipboard counting the inventory as it came off. Usually have it done within an hour depending on how much I had delivered. And each of the teens got a $10 bill sometimes $20 if it was a big load. Then I moved to the bigger house in a very short Cul De Sac and trucks would walk in and say, I can't turn around in here. I said, yes I know, you have to back in from the street out there, and then get this huffy puffy look. And I'd say, my mom is an OTR truck driver and happens to be home for her 4 days off, I can call her and she'll back it in for you. She has brought me merch when I hired her company for freight. No guy wants to be outdone by a woman, so at that point he accepted the challenge and did it. Sure glad he did, cuz mom wasn't home.:crackup::crackup: My favorite, can you say " Head Fake "

Hehehehe! I got my snowblower!

It arrived in good shape, 90% assembled, and I finished the assembly, added oil, put in a little gas (with stabilizer), fired it up and made all the adjustments.

I just have one thing to say now...

Hey! Mother Nature!

Bring it on bitch!
