Installing brakes on a homemade trailer

I'm also thinking I'm better off to replace all axles with new one that come with brakes already. I was told from another forum that after I the brake kits, backing plates, etc. that I'd be off to new 7k axles that has the brakes already on them.

I have been looking at building a trailer, and came across this thread.

Something else to be on the eye out, is a lot of those mobile homes are moved by highway tractor, so if they DO have brakes, they might be air brakes.

Rather than get a kit, on my single Axle trailer I needed to add brakes on, I went to a welding fabricator that specialized in trailer hitches. He had great specials to add brakes on my existing Axle.
