I got ripped off. I that I bought 1988 C1500 parts with a good 350 in it. After pulling the motor I found out its a junky 305. Here's the numbers off the block where the bellhousing bolts up. If I knew it was 305 wouldn't have $500 for the truck with no title.

This happend to my dad too. Hes building the 305 instead of junkin it.

Can you give us details surrounding the deal? Did you get ripped off or did you just not pay close enough attention? Did the seller state it was a 350?

The 305 was not a bad motor.

My truck has a 305, it has 226000 and still runs good and doesn't use oil.

The guy stated it was a 350 rebuilt crate motor. But after I got it I decoded the vin and it showed the OEM engine was a 305. But he still could've swapped the 305 for 350 though. I had on CL for $450/bo with 700r4 core and dropped down to $300/bo. The truck had over 350k on it.

So are you sure it's a 305 or are you just assuming he was lying about the crate motor since the VIN said it came with a 305?

I had a 305 for 187K miles in my '01 and swapped in a 350. The VIN stayed the same.
