Ignition cylinder trouble for a 2000 Ranger.

It has a 3 liter. I think it doea have thast PATS on it. I did not know what that balc ring was for around the cylinder until a little while ago.

If it has PATS and you switched lock cylinders, it sounds like it is not recognizing the key.

I meant here at the house. I will have to get it to a shop now and that costs money i did not plan on spending.

I was just thinking... If its in the PATS system it would still crank wouldn't it... Have you tried jumping across the solenoid....

Make sure its in neutral!

You pretty much have to get the dealer to reprogram the PATS system. I believe it's proprietary equipment and software.

I know the F150s would still crank, without a recognized key, but they won't start.

The Ranger should be the same way :dunno:

Try taping one of the old keys against the new key so the head of the key is in the ring around the ignition. If its the PATS system causing it to not start, then it should start with the old key head taped against the new one.
