For the past several weeks we have had trouble with the ignition cylinder in our Ranger. I have been down this road before so it was no trouble swapping in the new cylinder. However, this is the first time I could not get the truck to start. Now this is my first 2000 Ford anything. All my Rangers and previous Ford trucks were older. What should I be looking for and how do I get this truck to start? The ignition cylinder seated nicely and turns like it should. The accessories come one and everything appears normal.

It sounds like a bad ignition switch. I've never tried to install one on a Ranger but I believe it should mount to the back end of the cylinder like the Explorer.

It does not turn over what so ever. The thing about it is this truck started and ran great prior to swapping out the cylinder.

Thanks for the link!

I don't remember if the rangers have the PATS system or not.... Does it have a theft light.... If it does.. It is flashing funky.. Or just normal?

Some Rangers have PATs. It depends on the options. My 00 fully loaded 4.0 had it but my nearly bare bones 00 2.5 doesn't.
