I have a late model 351W out of a 96 F250. I am trying to get it up on the engine stand but I do not have any bolts that fit the back of the black. So far everything I have touched on that truck and the engine have been held in with metric bolts. So I am assuming the bell housing bolts are no different. I have no way of gauging the threads so does anyone know what size they are? Does anyone have any idea where I can locate that information? The dealership was no help by the way.

That does help. But I think they were talking about an earlier model that took standard hardware. However, maybe all I have to do is locate the equivilant to the size they were discussing in metric.

You can pick up the tool at a hardware store for a few bucks. It will measure diameter, threads, head depth, metric, and standard. Just a little piece of sheet metal that will fit in your wallet.

I planning to find a tool that will do that. I have been in this situation before and I am not going to be in it again.
