The Liberty only has the Command Trac-II system.... it's not anywhere in the ballpark of the Qudra Trac-II that's in the Commander.

The QD system uses brake pressure to stop the wheels from spinning as they lose traction and has automatic electronically controlled lockers in both front and rear diffs. When the wheel spins the locker engages and stays engaged for at least 90 seconds.

The CT system in the Liberty is just like every other 4wd system on the market. Doesn't do anything special with the brakes and no lockers... but i think the rear is a LS carrier. If those tires go up in the air it'll be SOL.

I wouldn't count them out so easy.. Take a look at some of those liberty forums I told you about, you will find some pretty wicked videos of what they can do, even with half of their wheels off the ground.

Oh yeah they're very capable vehicles. I've been looking at a bunch of threads and videos.

Just saying that ill put my money on a system that has fully locked front & rear axles like the QD2 shown in that video.

I've seen videos with the QT2 (commander) and the CT2 (Liberty) .... they still do pretty damn good but there's a lot more wheel spin involved and they dont traverse the obstacles as seamlessly. That's what really impressed me about that video.... once those lockers engaged it was simple work.

When the QD2 is in 4low the lockers are fully activated. .. so there wouldn't be any wheel spin at all.

Ok...forgive me...BUT:

Couldn't our trucks do that with the G80? I truly have respect for Jeep, especially the new Grand Cherokee which is one of the most capable off roaders out there...but seeing as there was always a rear wheel firmly planted on the ground it seems that a simple locking diff would have sufficed.

Am I wrong?

That video is awesome though. I love seeing machines get put through their paces like that.

Usually there's not enough traction with just one tire to maneuver a vehicle up an incline like that (or you'll snap an axle trying to lift the entire weight of the truck up a steep incline through only one shaft). Offroad it surely wouldn't go anywhere.

Mine, fully loaded Limited with the 5.7L Hemi, backup camera, NAV, every option except the child entertainment center went for $24k out the door as a certified pre-owned vehicle with only 21,000 miles on it.
