Re: HIDs and surfing.

T, he got me the 4300s, am I going to hate them? Mixed reviews online, depending on manufacturer. Some say they are the whitest, while other say slight yellow hew to them :dunno:

I love my 5K's but I think 4300 would probably be closer to real white light. I think you'll be happy. Mine has just the slightest blue-ish undertone. 4300 will be fine.

Re: HIDs and surfing. Got some.

Thanks, I will try them. I want to install them but it just seems silly since it is light like 18 hours a day right now

He got me the capped bulbs, so I don't know how they will look in the lows.

The original post sounds like a bad Chinese translation of a cake recipe.

I have 5k and they're perfect IMO. Not blue like 6k and up, and not yellowish like halogens

I don't want to hijack a tech thread, but looking at DDM's website, are the kits universal? And what's the difference between a D1S and D1R bulb?
As long as you select your bulb type/size it will work.

D1S and D1R are the first generation of automotive headlights... The D1R and D2R's are designed for reflector based optics, and the D1S/D2S are for projectors.

The DDM things don't care for the colder temps.

My pilot HID's fired perfectly below -40.

The only reason I had a ballast die is from my offroading, and not potting them.

You'll be happy with the 4300ks.

Especially if they're rebased bulbs... My pilot bulbs were too bluish for a 5000k.

The cheaper bulbs will colour shift sooner than OEM bulbs, and usually by a larger amount.

My pilot bulbs went from 5000k to about 6500k after about 40 hours...

Usually you'll get at least 100 before they shift. With the 4300s, if they DO shift, you're not likely to be much past 5000k so you'll still like them

So, I still haven't installed these.

I want clear corners, but was hoping not to have to go through the mod of having to cut the housing apart.

I went through the hundreds of rice halo lights, and they all look like ass. I found these at Xtra Lights, which do have the projectors for the HIDS. I still hate the look of them.

Does anybody have experience with Xtra Light products. They look like junk, but the prices are high, and the reviews are good

Throw those HIDs in since you have them and see what you think. I love mine and I am thinking about getting some for the high beams.
