Ah, I see. Thanks for clearing that up. Would there be any good reason to switch to them then? Would they throw light out better that the stock ones I have now or would it purely be a looks thing then? (considering I would just get nice halogen bulbs instead of HID's)

My brother has a set of aftermarket projector headlight on his Tahoe. They are halogen projectors just like on the Denali. I have never driven a Denali so I couldn't speak about those, but the lights on my lil brother's Tahoe suck ass. My stock housings with an HID kit put out WAAAAAY more light than his do. I just noticed last week when I was staying with him that he also has projector parking lights on there as well. I've never seen a set like that. He said everyone keeps asking him where he got them. Unfortuneately, they were purchased by the Tahoe's previous owner, my brother David who passed away 3 years ago. We refused to sell the Tahoe after his death, we decided my youngest brother should get it.

Sorry to hear about your brother.:halo: It's cool you are keeping the Yukon in the family!

Don't get me wrong I love the light output of the HID's, but is there a better way to correct the light diffraction because these housings weren't made for them? I know you can just adjust the headlights down but I thought I heard that they are still REALLY bright for oncoming traffic.

I'd hate to get a ticket and I really don't want to be "that guy" driving down the road...

you could just get a set of projectors and reto them in the housing. it would involve taking the lenses off and moding the housing. i am on the fence about what way to go. i have hid's but i'm tired of my lights. i was gonna buy some depos, use them till i install true hid projectors in my after market clear lens headlights and then sell the depos. but i dunno yet

Yep, exactly! The only reason I would do this though is if they were true projectors so that I can legaly upgrade to HID's.

Like I said, it looks to me like they are, but I am by no means a professional. Just wondering if anyone knew?

Yes, the Denali headlights are projectors...

They're not HID projectors, but they're still projectors :)

"Legally" you can't put HID's in them... But in a projector blinding people shouldn't be too much of an issue...

I can't remember if they have a clear lense or not, though...

And it's not the lense that makes it for HID or Halogen, it's the projector bowl...

HID projector bowls are generally wider, because they have more light output to spread around.

I put H1 bulbs in my halogen projectors from ebay and they worked pretty damned good... But the projectors themselves were good... My highbeams kind of suck, though

You shouldn't have any glare issues with those projectors.
Even if you don't go HID, they give the same or better light output as the regular lights do.

As far as I know putting HIDs in vehicles that did have them installed at the factory is illegal, even with proper HID projectors.

I just took my truck to get my yearly inspection and they failed me for having my tint too dark, but passed my retro-fitted headlights.

It varies depending on where you are, but for you US guys, the general DOT regulation is it is against the law to put HID's in any vehicle that did NOT have the option for them from factory...

The only legal way to do it is to use all OEM parts.

However, as long as you're not blinding the shit out of everyone on the road, nobody bothers ya, that's why projectors are the best...

I'm probably going to retrofit some bixenon projectors into my highbeam spots, as my ebay projector highbeams suck
