Is it a floor shift or the dash knob?

Dash. The diesel boys tell me if I manually engage them I can still use the knob to turn the front shaft and change gears in the tcase just have to engage them before going off road only down side is if I get into a bad situation and don't have them locked or can't get them locked it's no 4x4

This is true. The reason I was asking is that the floor shifters don't utilize the vacuum system at all and you must manually engage the hubs. The dash switch system has a hybrid system which allows you to manually engage the hubs or allow the vacuum actuators to work.

My work truck has the full manual system with the floor shifter, and I usually just lock the hubs when I know I am headed into an area where I might need 4wd, then I unlock them when I get ready to hit the pavement again. It also doesn't hurt anything if you leave them engaged on the hwy, it just keeps all the front end components turning, so you may see lower fuel economy and would see more wear and tear on the front axle components over time.

Yea that's exactly what I was told on the psd forums about the lower mpgs. This might also make up my mind about changing the wheels to ones with different center caps that have access to the hubs

Wheels are plentiful (and cheap) for SD's on Craigslist.

yea theres a set of stock 17's with tires that are 45% tread for 250 i think i might get and use for a bit since the have the cutout in the front center caps

Think wheels might wait since I'm changing the oil this week and gonna get an age stage 2 intake

I prefer the manual shifter over the laundry machine button in the dash, but an automatic wheel hub is helpful when it's OK because when it goes out it's a PITA. At least the F250 has this backup manual activation for the wheel hub...

Take it to the dealer (if theres a warranty) and have them fix the vacuum leak issue. Atleast it will work for now and then maybe later on you can switch to manual hubs.

Its probably a bad IWE solenoid if its anything like an F150. I know they go bad alot on the F150's but dont know anything about an F250.

yup very true. if my centercaps would come out without the wheels off i would have engaged them yesterday

Well I was thinking there might not be a warranty since its got over 100k but thought maybe the dealer gave you 30 days or something like alot of used car dealers do.
