Wanna play 80-100 on the freeway you better be ready for the consequences.

By law he had every right to pull his weapon if he thought the guy was ready to flee (which looked likely there for a second). He followed protocol and never once pointed the weapon at the offender AND he verbally identified himself as State Police. He also had a marked unit right behind the bike.

I don't blame the cop one bit.

I don't really blame the cop for what he did when he got pulled over... It's the crap that happened afterwards that gets me.
That whole trouble for videotaping thing stinks for sure. I think that part is total bullshit... He deserved his punishment for hauling ass.

:werd:

And he accepted those punishments without argument

I honestly see nothing wrong with the way the cop exited his car with gun in hand. He could have said police a few seconds earlier, but he did say it. He also never pointed his gun directly at the motorcyclist. But I do think its total horeshit that they come back and arrested the guy for wiretapping charges because he was videotaping.

I am honestly surprised that the cop did NOT point his gun directly at the cyclist and scream "Get the **** off the bike right now before I blow your head off you piece of shit!". I have actually had that happen to me several times before during a trafic stop. :dunno:

Since there was a marked unit right behind the motorcycle... why didn't "THEY" make the stop... instead of John Law Rambo (in plain clothes) jumping out of an ordinary car, with a gun drawn... :dunno:

The only question I have is to if the officer was on duty or not...

I'm not sure about where you guys live, but if an officer is off duty here, they can't actually pull you over or anything like that...

I think the marked car showed up afterward.

I am fine with everything except the stupid charges.

I agree about the charges... that is pure BS...
A ticket for speeding... sure...
Maybe even another one for reckless driving...

But WIRETAPPING CHARGES????
That's BS...

Whether he was on a bike or in a vehicle. If he seems like he would be fleeing or use his vehicle as a weapon (run me over or someone else) I would damn well pull my weapon too. Yes, he should have identified him slightly sooner than pulling the gun. I agree with the Cop.

Wiretapping.....hell no. That is just them throwing the book at him

Cop did little wrong (expect maybe pulling him while off-duty, but if the guy was really hauling ass and posing a 'danger' to the public, I'd be pissed if I knew there was a cop there that didn't do anything about it).

What happened after the stop is a different story, let them keep throwing those types of charges at John Q. Public... Sooner or they'll folks will regret it.

I'm sure there is a lot more to this story than the one sided opinion being told here.
