Hey Carl, and Matt, or anyone else that has done their own servo without a lift. How much more of a PITA is it without a lift? :dunno: Is it just a lil harder, or will I be cussin and throwing tools around? :frustration:
I did mine with just a floor jack, jack stands and a creeper. Lifts are for wimps.:jester:

Scotty's a big fella and you are a mechanic!

Yeah there is a big difference. I am no where near as big as Scott and I do turn wrenches for a living. May be better to have someone else do it for you.

I changed my own belts, change my own oil, and just changed a starter on a 94 F150 last month for my brother in law. :dunno:

Then in my opinion you can do this. It was an extremely easy thing to do, if you can get under the 'burb around the transmission. I laid flat on my back on the creeper and did it.

I don't own a creeper. I usually use a big ass piece of cardboard.:lol:

I do notice its a bit harder to get under my truck ever since I put the step bars on this summer. Before I added the bars I could change my oil without even jacking it up. :dunno: Now I have use the ramps or jackstands to change the oil. I am a pretty big guy, just ask Darkanion or Texas Jim, they've met me before.

You can never have too much information.

You wanna bet??? So the other night, I had some of my good buddy's home made chili. I don't know what was in it, but the next morning, my stomach started growling. So I went to the bathroom for what I knew was gonna be a major dump and ............

But, Great find on the manual. I downloaded it. I had most of that already, but I was especially liking the last .pdf section and the manual valve body. I'll be getting into that I have a feeling. What I want my next experiment transmission to be is the manual valve body 4L80-E. You know many people can benefit from the use of a 4L80-E which is a Turbo 400 type trans with overdrive, in fact many parts will internchange with the Turbo 400, and some parts of the 4L80-E are even backwards compatible upgrades for the Turbo 400, so many people can use the 4L80-E but they stay away from it because of the electronics and need to buy an aftermarket $900 computer controller to operate it on a non computer vehcile. It can be done and has been done, but you can actually run a 4L80-E WITHOUT the computer and electronics. It is just a full manual trans. Good Info find on the full manual 4L60-E. That's the first I have seen of that. Thanks

I thought people avoided the 4L80-E because if it's extra weight and parasitic loss :dunno:

There is some truth to that too, in fact alot of truth. The biggest reason is the electronics. But racers these days want OD. Back in the day everyone wanted Turbo 400 for the strength, and they were not to concerned about the extra 32 lbs, the 16 additional hp robbed that was not going to make it to the ground, and the fact that Turbo 350 had a better first gear also. I ran a Turbo 350. Many times I knew people had more than what I had, but them having a 400, me having a 350, gave me enough of the edge I'd take the race and in most cases win. Now with the internet, people are better educated.
