Mondays are my days off but I still have to drive my wife to work so I used the day to take care of some maintenance on the truck. I had a vibration in the steering wheel while going 65 so I went to a friends shop to get the tires balanced. Turns out the Harley wheels had air pressure sensors and one of them blew up.:dunno: Still I got all 4 tires balanced and rotated. He checked my alignment and adjusted it so i wouldn't tear up the other 2 tires. Got a copy of my house key and still walked out of there only $40 poorer. Gotta love friends with shops! Truck rides smooth now.

After that I headed over to Walmart and picked up a bottle of Techron complete system cleaner. I have a slight miss @ 1200 rpm so I'm hoping its not time for the dreaded plug change. :uhoh: Picked up some throttle body cleaner and MAF cleaner to see if that would clear it up the problem. So I finally got my hands dirty.

A few weeks ago I bought a socket and screw driver set at Harbor Freight( I know, save the flaming) so now I have the tools to do the job.
Took the air cleaner assembly and the throttle body off.

Its hard to tell from the pics but it was filthy.

Gave it a good cleaning.

Time to clean the MAF sensor.

Now to put it all back together.

Took all the proper steps for the trucks computer to get used to a clean throttle body and MAF and took it for an 18 mile drive to test it out.

The verdict:
Throttle response is 100 times better and acceleration is much smoother. I even took the truck out to Eagle Rock to test it on a steep hill, well still got the miss. :(

At 100K I knew it was most likely the plugs, so now a good chunk of my next pay check is spent. Felt good to work on it again!

Meh. Just dive into the plugs. There is a tool for broke plugs and many vids on how to prep the plugs before removal so they don't separate. Anyway. Good job buddy. Two weekend from now I think we will be coming down. Wanna try it, drop it and paint the bed??????

I wouldn't jump to conclusion on those plugs, I had a similar issue and after changing the plugs found out it was the O2 sensors. But changing plugs isn't a bad idea at 100k, I have also heard that O2 sensors should be changed at 100k.
