I thought I'd bring this back up, now that we're using winter fuels.

Do your average fuel consumption change in the winter? Mine does. I'll get anywhere between 11-15 combined mpg in the summer, and 9-12.5/13.5 in the winter. I blame winter fuel mix for that.
Winter fuel mix could be part of that but the cold weather is the main reason IMO. Your engine takes longer to heat up and is pretty inefficient until warmed up to operating temps. :dunno:

Idling, waiting for the truck to warm up can impact it a lot, too..

I'll have to agree with both of you on your oppinions as well. I never did get good mileage from any 350 I've ever owned.

Odd, my buddies old '93 Silverado with a 350 would consistantly get 18mpg, even when it got the shit beat out of it.

Reckon I am another one...

A few days ago, when I was driving the Caddy, I was playing with a really nice looking and nice sounding, Mitsubishi 3000 GT.

On the floor at 130MPH...still in 3rd gear...a little over 6000 RPM...I glanced down at the INSTANT MPG...it was showing 4MPG. :D :D :D

02 Silverado with 5.3 and a PCM tune I get 15 to 16 on average. If I drive reasonable then I can get 18 out of it, but that isn't any fun. Just turned 89k on it today.

Reminds me when a buddy and I were coming back from Charleston, SC. We were working down there. He pulls a 14' enclosed trailer with an '03 Dodge. He looked at his dic, and noticed 4 mpg. The mountains played hell. We got to the VA- WVA line and encountered one hell of an ice storm. That was some scary shit.
