13 to 15 mpg here in a lot of stop and go traffic, even on the highway.

I really need to check the mileage on the Tahoe. I don't really care one way or the other but it should be interesting to know.

I generally just drive until I'm at about half a tank and then I fill 'er up.

The Silverado gets 13.5 to 13.9 like clock work for around town driving, which is what we do 99% of the time. If we can mix 1/2 the tank with constant highway driving then we get 16.5. The Tacoma gets 18-19 in the city and 17-18 in mixed.

My 2006 with 5.3l and 3.42's usually gets 19.5 to 20mpg. 95% of my driving is highway miles, I tend to get better mpg when doing 70+ mph, oddly it gets worse the slower I go. :dunno:

Your not the only one. I also have that happen with my truck and I also have the 3.42 and 5.3 I get better gas mileage at 73 than I do at 60 and i tend to think its because the engine is spinning right around 2000 rpm at 73 and the cruises great at that rpm.

I thought I'd bring this back up, now that we're using winter fuels.

Does your average fuel consumption change in the winter? Mine does. I'll get anywhere between 11-15 combined mpg in the summer, and 9-12.5/13.5 in the winter. I blame winter fuel mix for that.

Winter fuel mix could be part of that but the cold weather is the main reason IMO. Your engine takes longer to heat up and is pretty inefficient until warmed up to operating temps. :dunno:

Idling, waiting for the truck to warm up can impact it a lot, too..

I'll have to agree with both of you on your oppinions as well. I never did get good mileage from any 350 I've ever owned.
