WooHoo!!!!!! Success!!!! The burb is back to it's old self.Did a basic tune-up on it today and it's running nice and smooth.
For some damned reason I cannot get this engine to rev above 4,000rpm.There isn't a rev-limiter on this old OBD1 system is there?![]()
Does that one have a Turbo 400 transmission?
If it does...... Have you tried putting it in 1st and then standing on it??
Does it have kickdown linkage from the throttle body to the transmission??
Computer controlled 4L80E....I've put the shifter in 1st and stomped on it(in the past)and it starts to cut out above 4,000.Maybe this weekend I'll try that again now that I tuned it up & installed a new fuel filter..should be the best time to try.Maybe it'll go more![]()

Kinda odd that they shift at so low RPM...
I had a 74 Chevy pickup with a 454 and it shifted at an even 5000...if I remember right...
I had a couple of dump trucks... way back then with 427's in them...
They had a governor set at 4750.

Nothing will ever replace that big block Suburban 4x4. What a beast!
She hates to park it
The GMT400 4x4 and the square body 4x4 are the badasses of all Suburbans to me. I love yours. It has just enough height and looks good.Nothing will ever replace that big block Suburban 4x4. What a beast!
You should see wifey drive itShe hates to park it
