Computer controlled 4L80E....I've put the shifter in 1st and stomped on it(in the past)and it starts to cut out above 4,000.Maybe this weekend I'll try that again now that I tuned it up & installed a new fuel filter..should be the best time to try.Maybe it'll go more :dunno:

Found this video... but this one only goes to 4600...

Kinda odd that they shift at so low RPM...
I had a 74 Chevy pickup with a 454 and it shifted at an even 5000...if I remember right...
I had a couple of dump trucks... way back then with 427's in them...
They had a governor set at 4750.

Watched that vid & a few others :D Saw some nice burbs
For now I'll live with it...but I can't rule out a cam & head change :jester:

But that won't raise your RPM...:(

Should help shouldn't it? Maybe a Edelbrock intake would help too :dunno: I wonder if it runs out of enough fuel?:dunno:

That is the computer controlled transmission.... if it is programmed to shift at 4000 ... I don't think changing heads, cam or intake is gonna change it...

Might be a good idea to drop an email to Justin... :dunno:

Might do that...even though it's the old system he might have a suggestion or two :dunno:

Our GM mechanics use a salt solution they make up to spray.

Get a spray bottle ... put water in it...
At night, raise the hood with the engine running... "LIGHTLY" spray a mist over and around the plug wires...
If one of them is bad... it will arc...

On the Cadillac board... they occasionally have a problem like that when the platinum pad comes off of the plug... assuming you are even using the Platinum plugs...

Personally... I would go with the AC Delco plugs that the owners manual recommends and GM wires.
They have already been tested and validated for use in your truck.
No need to do the testing for some other company...

Just my opinion...
