I'm still not all that impressed with it. If they would have just TT's a 5.0 instead of a 6 cylinder, Ford would have the King Tiger of the gas V8's.

have you driven one? its miles ahead of the 5.4 in power and mileage. Plus, the issue with a tt 5.0 is packaging. the 3.5 is very tiny

If you towed 9000lbs regularly wouldn't you be more interested in a diesel anyway? I know I would. I think 20mpg unloaded is pretty decent for the eco. My ranger with he 2.5l, auto trans and 4.10 gears only gets 22mpg and it's just about the lightest version of the ranger for it's model year. For a truck that's twicw the size and weight 20mpg is pretty impressive in my eyes.

I think the last time an engineer took a look at the powertrain of a Ranger was the 80s. That is why you only see 22MPG. The F-150 engines were just designed.

The Ecoboost mileage is a disappointment for sure...but I think the numbers you are seeing are more of a result of just having a modern engine rather than fancy turbos and direct injection. I mean, the 5.0 V8 in the same truck with shorter rear gears (which means more fuel) gets 1 mpg less than the Ecoboost.

1 MPG.

You betcha
Look up SCT tuned 5.0L f-150 and you would be surprised how much Ford is holding it back to push the ecoboost.

I'd still buy an EcoBoost...I don't tow anything, therefore the MPG loss during towing doesn't bother me.

Now that's me being a fanboy!

I should have an eco-boost this week and can post my results too :tmc:

Please do because I think an f150 is my next vehicle and I don't know whether to get an ecoboost or 5.0
