if you had or have access tohop tuners you can get a ecm from the junk yard and just have your orginal tune read then written to the one you get from the junk yard.the VIN# can be added also
What is this "hop" tuner?

I don't want my current tune on the "new" ECM because I think the tune is the problem. I think it has somehow become corrupt...or else something has broken inside mine after 176k miles and 13yrs.

I think he meant HP Tuners...:dunno:

For $500, I'd rather pay $800 and get EFI Live. But I'd rather not waste the 2nd license on this truck (the 1st would be used on the Silverado).

Dennis had his Blazer tuned and said it was great too. I'm thinking I'll end up going that route this summer.

I'm still gonna call the junkyards tomorrow and see what they actually have. If nothing else, I'll get a spare ECM to send to Justin to tune.

That would be a good idea...

I finally remember to call the junkyard.

Even though their website shows 3 for $85 and 2 for $40, they have 3 for $40 (which shows their website's accuracy). I asked him if he knew about the vehicles they came from. He said they all came from 4x4 Automatic.

So does/did GM make just one ECM for all models allowing them all to run a 4x4 Auto and when put in a 2wd Manual that those setting just aren't used? I'm Google-ing right now to try to find out. Let me know if any of you guys find something!

I`m quite confident the ECM can be found in dozens of Gm models across the line, cars included. BUT i cannot say for sure which are compatible with which

So in short I know little, and am of very little help.:D2

Send an email to Justin.
He will tell you which one you can and can't use...
