Actually, that's a good point. An engine out of one of them is less likely to have been romped daily...

The Denalis were the LQ4, correct? I think only the SS trucks were the LQ9...

You know, since Jim is willing to have his guys look for you, it wouldn't be a bad idea to include the LQ9 in the search. No reason to limit yourself, just in case Jim happens to come across some amazing deal or something. Just sayin'. :dunno:

LQ9 means premium fuel. The power difference between the two engines just isn't enough to justify having to spend that much more on fuel. This thing still has to be my DD for another few years. People also always charge out the ass for LQ9s.

You dont need the LQ9. The only difference between the LQ4 and it is the pistons. They're flat topped to get a 10:1 compression vs the LQ4 dished for a 9.5:1 Its only an extra 35-40hp.

A lot of which, I've heard can be attributed more to the tune than anything else. In '05, the LQ4 got the stronger connecting rods, so the pistons are the only difference.

Dan,

I am not "SURE"...but I think the L9 had a different cam also.
