Rebuild it. If the engine has not been taken care or or in this cans run out of oil, there is more damage to it than just a bad lifter. I bet the mains and rod bearings are scarred up.

I was thinkin the same thing. I dont want to fix a crushed lifter and 2 month later rod bearing start to go cause someone ran it without oil.

I will rebuild this with power and torque. It will be the small block version of the big block 454. I be talking to the the techs at summit. As I get info from them on type of rebuild I post info in another thread.

Make it a 383 stroker.

Ever though about a Buick 350, they have a longer stroke, making them torque worthy.

too bad you're too far from me, I have a running 350 that came out of a 90 chevy van and 454 that came out of a 86 suburban.

I would not depend too much on the Summit or Jegs guys. They mean well, but most of their parts are made in china and sub par. You are better off finding a good builder with a good reputation and let him take care of it. A good machine shop will bore, stroke, and inspect the whole unit during the process.

Thats the first negative I heard about summit. No nothing about jegs.

Becareful of their "engine Kits" They will advertise something like mahle pistons, but the rest of the components will be junk. Or it may be a scat crank, or comp cam, etc. They put 1 or 2 "good name" parts in the kit, then fill it with sub-par parts like eagle cranks, etc.

The only advantage to a summit or jegs is price. the local guy will not be able to match the pricing, but add in the freight from the online companies and you end up around the same as the locals.

Besides, we need to support our local speed shops!! They are a dying breed.
