We'll see if it actually makes production. Americans really don't buy diesel cars in any real numbers.... never mind the 25,000 VW sells per year.

I don't have any desire to have one, but I hope it succeeds if Chevy produces it.

It's not heaven . . . it's Iowa!

Just a thumbs up? I think I speak for all of us when I say we expected more.

:jester:

OK.

GM is going right, and maybe now there is a chance to eliminate some taboos about diesels in the American market. With all this EFI/common-rail stuff it would make it easier to deal with unexperience mechanics...

Thanks man

I agree with you on removing the taboos. I know of some people who had trouble with the GM diesel cars in the 80's. Some of them were GM's fault (head gaskets). But some of them were operator error. People wouldn't put winter fuel it (it'd gel up) or they couldn't get their vehicle started in the winter (didn't use the block heater). Things like that.

I still remember going with my dad and trying to fuel my mom's diesel Impala wagon up in town. Back then you'd have to tell them to turn the diesel pumps on. And every so often, the guy would argue with you, saying that cars don't use diesel, they use gas.

Maybe the diesel engine going to be used in the Cruze would also be nice into the HHR and even in the Buick Regal or the Buick Verano, since it´s already used in its Opel counterparts...

I hate to say it, but GM's diesels in the 80's is a major influence as to why diesels are not popular in the USA today!
