check engine light

it came on a couple days after a got back from deployment. the truck had been getting started up every week, but not driven. and for the last 3 weeks, the battery was dead so it just sat waiting.

i definitely feel a loss of power. she just doesn't get up and go like she did before deployment. i'm going to be changing the oil and spark plugs this weekend.

please share any idea of what might be the problem if you've encountered a similiar situatioin. i'd like to take care of it myself w/o spending the money to have a shop do it. though a tune up i think would be in order

Josh find somebody on base with a code reader and have them at least check to see which codes are popped. Some auto parts stores will do this free of charge.

Thats what I assume. I bet the code or at least one of them is a P0300.

Replace the fuel with some good stuff.

On a serious note.. get that code read.. and we'll go from there bud.

If it's not P0300 (which is random cylinder misfire), the CEL will blink the number of times for the specific cylinder which is misfiring.

It's most likely bad gas... throw in some fuel stabilizer... Or, if the tank is almost empty, fill it up, and seafoam the biatch.

i'm thinking something more then just fuel. i'm on my 3 tank already since being back, and on the 2nd tank i added fuel injector cleaner.

the CEL is not blinking. but i'm thinking something about the engine is wrong....i feel a substantial loss of power. when i peg the gas, i don't get going, and the wheels don't spend from a stand still like they used too. i'm calling checkers now to find out if they do it for free. thanks guys keep the info coming

checkers in hawaii sin't worth shit! excuse my language. but they are worthless can't ever answer a damn question or point you even in the right direction. i'm taking it on base, its $100but i'll have the answers i'm looking for. hopefully i'll be able to take care of it myself. thanks guys. i'll keep you informed
