I haven't kept up with the Fusions.. I see it comes with a V6, where the Malibu comes with a 4-cyl.. Of course the Fusion is a year newer and has 16k less miles on it.. Would the extra power of the V6 (and possibly a little less MPG than the 4), along with it being newer, with less miles, be worth $2k to you?

Not a whole lot. Its just about a 1yr difference, the mileage makes it almost worth it but then again since it should depreciate slowly I don't know if it really is worth the difference. If the Malibu checks out clean and well functioning I believe I will try for that more. I'm not crazy over the interior colors but that will go away fast, its not that horrid orange at least.

To avoid any agreement go with the Chevy Malibu.

Can you provide more information as to why you chose the Malibu? A good experience?

Know someone with negative Fusion commentary?

Going off by the fact of the 2010 Fusion is a semi-redesign and the Malibu is not?

Just straight up don't like the new Fusion?

I kind of like the look of the Malibu better... :dunno:

But I don't really have any clue about how ether one drives.. But the Sync system would be nice tho.

I dont know if this will help..

Comparison Test: Accord vs Malibu vs Fusion vs Mazda6 vs Sonata

An interesting reading, thanks!

look into the new cruze that is coming out, the eco car will be getting over 40mpg, should be a great little DD if your looking at new cars.

I have put some thought into those but I really do not like the looks of the Cruze, its pretty funky looking, like Frankenstein.

I have an 09 Malibu 2LT with the 4 cylinder 6 speed trans. We bought it new and have about 40,000 miles on it. We love it. My wife drives it 85% of the time and gets around 28-30 MPG. It has lot of room in it IMO since I am 6' tall and have enough head room for me. So it has been a great car with no issues at all. I would highly recommand it.

That appears to be what I am seeing everywhere. People love them and have hardly any, if any problems mechanically/physically at all.

So since you both have 40k miles it it and its an 09 model there is a high chance than this one I am looking at was just driven daily and racked up some miles you think? Dealership is closed until Monday, this is going to be a long weekend :fume:.

i owned a 2008 LTZ 6/6sp, before they did the spring edition that added a 4 cyl and the 6 speed. the mailibu was a nice nice but very rough riding. THAT CAR GOT ME FROM STOCKTON TO VEGAS IN 6 HOURS FLAT AND I GOT 28 MPG.. not a bad choice. i think the one with the best real world mpg would get my vote. the interior on the malibu had a few issues with the trim breaking but my 2 year old and none caring wife might have helped them issues along.

to put it in the right context though, i traded it in on the flex and never looked back.

Now that is what I wanna hear. 28mph highway with the V6, I can imagine the couple extra numbers of the 4cyl. I witnessed the rough riding part in the silver LS I had last Fall season, but between than and my F150 on Toyo M/Ts with a Bilstein sprung suspension the Malibu rode great . And ya gotta love kids & the car

They are both nice rides. I tend to like the Malibu myself. The Cruze looks nice as well and supposed to be a good quality build with great mileage.

Yes it just looks like a regular Daily driver. We bought our 09 at the end of 08 so we had it for about 2.5 years. Even if the car is 2 years old, 20,000 miles a year is about normal for a DD. I would look into it for sure.

:ohnoes: Okay okay, relax, I'm not a fan of either car so I have no dog in this fight.

Personally there hasn't been any comparison between these to cars but I can only conclude factually from the known facts.

According to their price tags the Malibu ranges between $19995 - $26995 compare that to the fusion with price tags of $17770- $24385. The Malibu is more expensive, about $2,000 more than the fusion. The Malibu's curb weight is 3649 lbs, the Fusion is 3280 lbs. According to my calculations, that's 369 pounds heavier than the Fusion.

A Bigger V6 in the Malibu produces more horsepower and more torque but at a cost of lower miles per gallon in city driving. Worst part is that the Malibu has a smaller fuel tank, 16 gallons to be exact. That is a 1 1/2 gallons smaller than the Fusion; hence, the driving range gets smaller.

The Malibu's front suspension is good old struts (cheap to build). Compare that to the Fusion which uses control arms which in my right opinion are a lot better for handling. Nevertheless, the Malibu has bigger turning circle by more than a half-foot.

I can go on and on as to why the Ford Fusion would be a better choice but knowing the fanboys who would defend their brand to my death, I stand by what I posted....... to avoid any arguments I'll say what the fandboys want to hear, the Malibu is the better choice.

I don't think you could go wrong with either car, they seem well built and are both nice. I would go with a Malibu because of a rental I had last year that I really liked..... Maybe Im a fanboy though. :D

Good Luck!
