Early next spring I plan on lifting the 98 and since I can get an RCX 6" kit ordered from work dirt cheap that will be the kit I will most likely get. (Unless I can get a DC 6.5" cheap)

Anyways I was wondering if there is any benefit to getting larger leaf springs and ditching the blocks? I know it will probably stiffen up the ride in the rear but if they are a better option I might consider them. I don't do any towing in the winter but I do haul the boat around when me and my friends go out to the lake. Keep in mind I do have Ride Rite airbags already so I'm thinking that the blocks will be good enough?

Here's a link to the kit. http://www.roughcountry.com/chevy_4wd_88-98_6.html

Also would a steering stabilizer be a good idea to get with the kit?

I don't know for sure.. But I have heard some people say the springs make the ride better over a big block...

But if you have bags I would think you would be fine with blocks.

With blocks the spring can warp over time also. As for the steering stabilizer it depends on tire size. The bigger the tire the more work the steering pump is going to do. The stabilizer will help out a lot.

I think the block will be fine for now since I do have rite rite bags and if it comes to the point that the springs get warped I will probably just do a shackle flip with new springs.

I plan on 35" tires and since the steering stabilizer is only a $50 option I might as well get that too.

Ah yeah forgot you had air bags. That should work then. Yeah I would go with the stabilizer for that price and that you will be runnig 35's.

I always fo with leaf packs when I build a jeep.

Blocks are the cheap way to get lift. If you are only using a 2 inch block, that's OK... but anything taller can get spooky if you load the truck. Spring packs are far superior in every way, but they really boost the cost of the lift. If money is there, I recommend springs.

The kit I was looking at has a 4 inch block and then an add a leaf to get to 6 inches of lift. Would I be looking to just stack on a bunch more add a leafs or replace the stock springs with aftermarket springs that would get. Me the 6 inches of lift on their own?

I wonder if rough country would let me buy just the lift parts for the front then I could go and get leaf springs? How much am I looking at for the springs also?

Check local shops, see what it'll cost to build some spring packs.

4" is a LOT of block (though, me and James did see a truck with 8" lift blocks  )

Hell, the 1.5" that my truck came with was too much :D
