What a great guy to have in management. His superiors either fall for his ass kissing (something people like him do very well) or they don't give a shit.

That sucks.

That's okay... Got an acknowledgment from the State Office of Consumer Affairs regarding my complaint today, and assigning it a case number. We'll see if that goes anywhere. :)

Next step will be to file suit in small claims court on the basis that if Costco keeps refusing to perform the work that was included in the price of the tires, which I will then have to pay a different shop to do or risk damaging the tires and the vehicle, then Costco should pay for the cost. Let's see... The tires are good for about 60,000 miles. The manufacturer recommends rotation and balance every 5,000 miles, so that's 12 shop visits over the life of the tires. My local tire shop charges $14 per wheel to do this, plus tax. There's 6 wheels, so that's 6x$14=$84 per visit (plus $4.20 tax = $88.20) times 12 visits = $1,058.40 (plus court costs)

Considering that's just about the amount I actually paid for the tires... let the fwonkers keep being asshats if they want. :D2

It's not heaven . . . it's Iowa!
I would think Corporate Costco would try real hard to make this right with you. :dunno:

Of course, I've thought that before about companies . . .

Wow, I hope you can take 'em to the cleaners. If you have to whoop his ass, make sure you get a vid of it. Seriously though, good luck. I hope you get the service and quality that these shops are supposed to provide.

Well, I went to Costco again yesterday, not for the tires but to pick up some things for the house. As soon as I got out of the truck I saw three of the guys in the tire shop looking at the truck and talking to each other, then one went and got John, the supervisor and pointed out the truck to him. John then proceeded to do everything possible to ignore and avoid me, which was fine with me, but it was funny as hell to watch. If I started to walk in his direction he immediately went the other way. When I saw him later inside the store he also turned and walked in the other direction. I take it either the manager, Thomas, had had a "talk" with him, or he just didn't want to risk getting the kind of loud ass chewing I gave the warehouse manager, Mark, the last time I was there.

I ended up not buying anything though, because the lines at the registers were insanely long, and I only needed a couple of items, so I got those at a different store later.

Then, about 8 PM, just as the wife and I sat down to eat (we eat late because she gets home at 7:30) the store manager, Thomas, called. We were going to ignore it and let it go to voicemail, but I figured "what the hell" and answered it anyway. Thomas started out real friendly, telling me he's still trying to figure out how to get my dually in the shop at a time that's convenient for me, and get the work done. He only faltered a little bit when I told him to forget about it, because I've come to the conclusion that the staff in the tire shop were utterly incompetent, especially if they thought it would take two freaking hours to balance 6 wheels on a dually, and that I'd already filed written complaints with the state Office of Consumer Affairs, the Attorney General's Office, and the Better Business Bureau. His only response was, "I'm sorry to hear that." Then he said he'd like to offer me something for all the inconvenience this has caused me, and offered to extend our membership by a full year. I refused, and started to point out to him that a one-year extension didn't even come close to the $1,000 it was going to cost me to get the work done at a different shop over the life of the tires, which I might still sue them for, but he just bulled right through my objection and said he'd do it anyway. I figured at that point the only way I was getting back to my dinner while it was still warm was to agree, so I did.

I might still sue the fwonkers, or try taking it to a different Costco and see what happens.

Man, I hope this don't screw up your case, because now he has offered comp. and you excepted...a Judge may look at that, and say "Case dismissed".
But, on the other hand....put the wood to them!!!!

The one year extension for the membership. But, and this is a key point, I didn't accept that in lieu of the work being performed. It was offered for, and I accepted it on the basis of, compensation for the time and trouble in trying to get them to do the work.

In other news, I ended up meeting someone today who might have been very able to help me with this... but I didn't ask him.

I had to get a cashier's check from the bank today, to mail out tonight. After the bank I needed to stop at a local gemologist to have some stones identified. My route there took me right past the post office, so I pulled in to get an Express Mail envelope for the check, just in case I didn't have one at home.

As I was getting ready to get out of the truck I noticed a new silver Lincoln pull in behind me, with a very unusual Virginia license plate... "1" Yep, that's all it had on the plate, the number 1. I'll give you five guesses to figure out who it was... and the first four don't count. :D

So, I get out of the truck, and the guy in the Lincoln gets out, talking on a cell phone. While I went inside he stayed outside to finish his call. As I was leaving though he was coming in, and he held the door open for me and I thanked him.

Heck, it's not every day when the Governor holds the door open for you at the Post Office. :D2
