I say make her learn a stick now, that way when she gets older she can drive one if ever need be! There have been many times it has paid off for me being able to drive a stick! After that, they say the Honda's last for ever, and they do, the have pretty much bullet proof engines, and all! I learned to drive a 4 speed hatch back cavalier, and then my first car was a 5 speed Toyoda camery with 110+k miles on it.

Right, less time for texting if she's into that type of thing....

My Wife's first vehicle was her dad's old 1988 F150 reg cab longbed. He gave it to her in 1999 when he bought his 99 silverado. My first car was a 1990 Chevy Cavalier (which I bought when I was 18). My parents couldn't afford to provide me and all my brothers with vehicles,(5 of us total) we each had to work and buy our own. I think it actually worked out better that way in the long run, you wanna drive you pay for it. It sure taught me the value of a dollar. When my kids are old enough to drive I'm not going to buy them vehicles. If they wanna drive, they can get a job and buy their own car. At the very least, I'll give them the oldest vehicle we have and buy either me or my wife a new one to replace it.

My first car was a 2007 honda accord (not by choice... mom loves accords.. which is why she drives it now and I got a brand new truck :))

But get a honda civic / accord. Those little buggers can haul ass if they need to, 5 star crash test ratings im pretty sure, and they are great on gas.

but idk the truck with a grill guard sounds like a GREAT idea considering shes a 15 year old girl...

no offense, its just that all the teenage girlies i know cant drive worth a shit..

Seems like there's a pretty good consensus building - the right vehicle lies somewhere between a Honda Civic and a tank. For those that have experienced it, how long before the first vehicle gets bent? From the previous posts, it sounds imminent.
