I'm sure "easy to lower" is going to be important to a 15 year old girl! They are good trucks... sort of the Honda Civic of the truck world.

^^^^ actually s-10s are. You can buy a complete back half with airride that's plumbed already, and all you gotta do is bolt it on.

Tacomas don't have that

Seems like there's a pretty good consensus building - the right vehicle lies somewhere between a Honda Civic and a tank. For those that have experienced it, how long before the first vehicle gets bent? From the previous posts, it sounds imminent.
From what I hear from other parents, yes it is imminent. "There kids" usually end up in some sort of accident, whether its just bumping into the mailbox at the house to a collision with another vehicle. IMO, i'd get something cheap, but reliable, and has easy to get parts from at the pull a part junk yards. For one, you can slap any matching part on it.
Second, it doesnt have to be the same color,so you know they will hate it to the point , they may not want to drive it anymore and just ride with a friend.

Thats what I may do when my daughter gets up there in 3 years. I am not too woried with the vehicle, its the insurance payments that I fear. You know they will wanna skip the vasoline when the time comes.

Get her a old ass suburban with a I-beam as a bumper. Not only will she be safe but, cars will go out of there way to avoid her and if she does hit something damage will be minimal to the suburban at least.

When I truly learned to drive it was on 1977 GMC 2500 long bed. If your daughter can learn to drive on something like that, then driving anything else is a snap. Not to mention they can take a beating. Not to mention the fuel costs will keep her from tooling around too much. :D

Or maybe something along the lines of an S10 or S15. :dunno:

As for how long it would be before she bends it for the first time. From the stories I've heard it doesn't take the majority of girls too long. A niece of mine has had her license for a year and already totally 3 cars.
