Hey Bernie, me thinks this thread was hijacked :D

I prefer to think of it as "enhanced", or possibly "value added". Of course, there's a tax (VAT) for that, so all you folks who threw in your 2 cents will only be getting 1 cent back. :)

Paypal is the only method of payment accepted on almost every Ebay transaction now.

I only pay by US Postal Money Order on ebay. So far every seller i asked said they would take a money order.

Some seller s might but it's against the EBAY rules. Here is a quote dorectly from Ebay's rules page.

Notes:

  • Payment by personal check, cashier’s check, bank-to-bank transfers, or money order isn't allowed for most eBay purchases.

Some sellers may skirt the rules, but most require Paypal.

Most!

The only reason ebay wants you to use paypal is so they get their share

I gotta chime in on this one, well, both of them.

Bernie, why would you buy OEM when that is what broke? Mine is broken on the driver's side too; very common on the 400's.

PayPal - Well, I guess I won't be using that any more. When does this new bill go into effect? When it does, it'll either be pay by credit or money order. Piss on PayPal! They're already charging a fee if you receive money, just not on the sender so I've never had to deal with this fee.

ANY for sale item, or regular auction forbids any payment method other than Paypal. Don't know why you guys insist on trying to see a way around that. It's simply how they do business... since they own Paypal. I think Cars and Real Estate are exempt.

As I read it, the bill requires Paypal to provide information on anybody that does 600.00 worth of seller business in the year. This is very similar to other 1099 rules. The IRS doesn't want to miss out on all of those sellers that have been selling stuff and not paying taxes on the proceeds.

Oh, so this PayPal thing only applies to SELLERS, not buyers?
In that case, we are all good for purchasing using it. Right?
