Ebay has become a reliable source for this sort of replacement part... at least until next year when PayPal starts reporting their transactions to the IRS as part of the "Health Care Reform Bill".

There's a joke in there somewhere, trying to get out... Aha! Got it...

I can see where PayPal would be linked to the Health Care Reform Bill... they've been acting just like your average proctologist for years now... sticking it up your ass and billing you for the "service".

:jester:

Actually not a joke. Part of the health care reform bill (which none of the people who voted on it read) deals with the collection of more taxes. Paypal will be required to report user data to the IRS in the form of a 1099. I am not kidding. In this bill, there are many hidden little zingers.

Then sellers will stop using paypal and start accepting money orders and checks again.

Except that eBay owns PayPal (or is it the other way around?) so the IRS will still get reports.

:fume:

Another little "nugget" in the bill is that you have to provide 1099 info on any company that provides you (as a business) with 600 dollars worth of service or parts.

This bill is full of little new tax collection methods.

Don't take MY word for it. Go research it!

Hmmm... That's going to be a PITA for my non-profit association. We're tax-exempt, but we pay about $650 per year for our server.

No, wait a minute... a 1099? That does not apply between businesses. That's for compensation between a business and a private individual, and it wouldn't apply in any case on the sale of services. The only way it would apply, under current IRS regs, is if the business were giving you $600+ worth of service or parts as compensation for work you did for the business.

The bill specifies between businesses. I was not aware it required a different form. The Repubs AND Dems are currently trying to repeal parts of the bill. There are several measure being discussed. We'll have to see how this plays out.

Yeah, it won't really matter what the bill says if the IRS and other agencies aren't setup to comply with it. We shall see what happens in the days ahead, but this could turn into one more nasty blow to small non-profits that want to stay legal. When you have to hire an accountant to do the books, a tax specialist for dealing with the IRS, keep $5,000 in a business checking account to avoid fees, still pay "yearly incorporation fees" to the state, and a $500 filing fee to the IRS just to get a letter that confirms you are tax exempt, you have to wonder if anyone you're dealing with actually understands the NON-PROFIT part of your organization.

I think '03 will be too new Joe. This is for my '99 GMC 3500 which is the old body style.

No worries though... Found a nice pair of OEM originals for $36 :)
