I need to build a simple square fan shroud out of aluminum. However, I do not have access to a metal brake. I have thought about clamping wood together and using a hammer. But the final product will not be the type of quality I would prefer. Any of you done this before or have any ideas?

I did it once by using the corners of my work bench and a rubber mallet. Maybe look up some You Tube videos.

You can use a metal door with metal door jamb as a brake. I have done that on light gauge metal. It does work pretty decent.

Aluminum isn't that hard to form. Bend using sharp angles and lay off of the rubber mallet as much as possible for good results. I've seen racecar shrouds made this way that looked really good.
