Why spend money to test in a junkyard one, when you could just go to a junkyard and buy a replacement (still at the appropriate length) if you screw that one up when you shorten it..??![]()
Yeah I wouldn't buy one to use, and be stock with another. If I tried it and it f-d reception up I would go a few miles down the road to the yard and get one, not like it'll be real expensive. And if it is, I doubt I would steal, but theres so many salvaged trucks down there and a few of them are Fords, would take 40 seconds![]()
When I first started reading this, I was thinking "yeah, go buy a cheap one, experiment on it, and if it fWONks-up, you still have the original." But, then I thought about it a little and realized "Yeah, but if it doesn't fWONk-up, you'd have TWO antennas... Why spend the money to end up with two??"

I hear ya on just going to get one if the attempt fails..

I think I've done that a time or two..
