Very little reception is lost by shortening the FM antenna. The wire around it is not a ground and is there for aero purposes as daddy said.

Start cuttin man!

If you are going to do that, you'll want to order this part: 15287179

You can pick one up at the dealer for $10-$15.

It's the piece of the cowl from the Escalade. The Escalade does not have a mast antenna so this piece of cowl does not have the hole for one, completing the full antenna delete. :thumbs:

Just cut it, if you live in the city and reception has never been an issue than I doubt cutting 10 inches is going to be a problem.

Why spend money to test in a junkyard one, when you could just go to a junkyard and buy a replacement (still at the appropriate length) if you screw that one up when you shorten it..?? :dunno:
