Yeah, the ecoboost had really great mid-high range power...it just was so incredibly smooth and quiet accelerating you could hardly tell.
That 5.0 looks real good on that dyno sheet.
I mean the ecoboost is a great example of what DI and boosting can achieve. But that 5.0 is a freaking monster.
As previously stated though I would not mind driving an F150 with any of fords new engines. They always had the weakest engine lineup(IMO) but now it seems to me like the have the best engine selection.
Yeah, I'm thinking it might be easier to void your factory warranty on the ecoboost than the 5.0 with simple mods.![]()
OK, so just drove both trucks this weekend with a buddy. Drove a 4wd ecoboost with 3.73 gears. It made almost zero engine noise....lol my dad would love this truck. Just not for me though it had no character. Power was lacking low in the RPM range we turned traction control off and stood on it and it definitely needed to build some boost before the rear end would break loose a bit.
The 5.0 4wd with 3.55 was waaaay different. Really enjoyed that truck....I mean I would totally get one if I were in the market for one. It had such an amazing rumble and it toasted the rear tires without stalling it up at all. It only really fell on it's face on the highway which I think is a tuning issue. Definitely could feel the torque management holding it back.
The mileage on both trucks was outstanding. These trucks had like 12 miles on them and the instant economy numbers while we were driving were crazy good. Good times were had that's for sure.

Yeah, I really think they might be better than GM's current line of trucks. And that's hard for me to swallow.
