So here's my review of the Chrysler 300 2012 edition
I have to say the first thing I notice is the front end and the throwback design which incorporates plastic chrome inserts to simulate old-school style bumpers.
The rear exterior leaves a little to be desired from the bumper up. I do like the large exhaust exits on the dual exhaust. They could've styled the Chrysler badge in the trunk a little bit better as well because it is a bit sans flash for this 300 series sedan. Or they can just remove all the badging all together right Tobias?
The key this feature is pretty neat all you need is the key fob your pocket and you touch the door handle and the button on it and it unlocks, you sit in the car push the brake push a button and it starts up very flawless. To shut the car off all you do is push the same button and the car shuts off. If you press and hold the button, it goes into accessory mode.
Both front windows have an auto up/down feature which is quite convenient. There are buttons on the front of the steering wheel which control the driver information center and the cruise control the rear of steering wheel houses controls for the audio system neither are laid out very well and a bit confusing but once you get it, you get it.
Now I might just be reminiscing but I do enjoy the way that Chrysler leaves an analog clock in the top center of the dash in all their vehicles ehh, call me a throwback guy but I like it
The center console can contains a myriad of power ports, USB and auxiliary connections keeping your electronics out of vision yet still usable. It located and accessed my iPhone without a hitch. I was listening to my own playlist within three minutes.
Another small thing I noticed is the door Dinger is very quiet not obtrusive like most vehicles and definitely not irritating to the point of strangulation as the flex has.
I took it on the highway last night and up around 80/85 you do not feel any wind in the car even with all four windows down kudos to the aerodynamic styling
The front head room legroom and hip room are incredible with this. Not quite the size of my flex or my truck but adequate enough for me to get very comfortable and I'm 6 foot one. The rear seats seemed a bit cramped but I am sure it's a little better than what my picture depicts due to the fact I had to seat back more than I normally would have
The puddle lights located in the bottom of the doors also service lights when doors are closed for the interior the vehicle well played Chrysler, well played.
The sound of the system however is amazing the way the bases upfront although where is the sub-woofer says it is a good size mid-bass in the door and the High set tweeters enhance the soundstage going down the road with all four windows down with the radio at a moderate level you could still hear all the music I don't know how they did it but it does sound amazing for a factory stereo without the upgraded big screen. the radio controls however are hard to figure out do the three different knobs it do three different things but they're not near each other.
The trunk is huge. Inadequate for mob use but for the typical family it should be perfect.
The cloth interior feels very nice it's almost (I need to use this term) a high-end cloth
The lighting inside the cab feels though it was stolen straight out of any Ford but Chrysler has managed to put their spin on it and I must say it's very nice and is not distracting
The H I D headlights even on this lower end model are amazingly well at night
Vision out the back of it is less than adequate though with blind spots created by the sea pillars and the high Trunk line makes it very hard to see exactly where you are backing into. I could just be spoiled by the flexes Rear view camera and the F3 50 backup monitors though
This particular car is equipped with the 3.6 liter Penstar V6, although not a powerhouse it will move out of its own way and it's rear wheel drive and has no problems with the traction control shut off with breaking the rear tires is from a dead still if you Power break it. wait, did i say rear tires? YES RMFWDFTW!!!
The engine does require to be wound up pretty tight to get a good amount power of it but the fuel economy has been quite nice with 19 in stop and go traffic in the city and high as 32 On The Hwy. cruising along at a moderate 70 to 75.
I do have one complaint about the shifter. On my model it is the gated style which is fine except the manual left and right shifting is very sensitive and will kick in the gear at a moment’s notice for those that habitually rest their hand on the shift knob. I will say though it is far better than the upper level model which is just a simple knob with a ridiculous button on the side. You simply hold the button and tap forward or backward to go from P to D. you had to look at the cluster to see what gear you were in when shifting into reverse. Not a fan.
All in all, my experience with the 2012 Chrysler 300 has been positive and I would actually consider buying this as my daily vehicle if I was in the market for a sedan.
