Hennessey Performance has been a leading fabricator on high performance cars like the Dodge Viper, Ford GT, and Chevy Corvette for years. They have produced some record breaking race cars along with very fast street car for customers. The name Hennessey demands respect. When you hear that name you know there is something good behind it.
You might remember back in 1997 when Hennessey had the Venom 1000, which was a twin turbo that competed against some of the big hitter automaker in a winner-takes-all race for fastest 0-to-200 mph. The Viper ended up taking the crown as the top speed king.
In 2011, Hennessey released it’s long-waited Venom GT. This was built with power to weight ration in mind. The very nimble GT is equipped with an LS9 engine under the hood from a ZR1 Corvette. Although this engine is a powerhouse, that just wasn’t enough power for Hennessey; they strapped a set of twin turbo on making this a rocket ship.
The Venom GT produces 1,200bhp @ 6,500 rpm and at a weight of only 2,685 pounds curb weight the car will propel 0-to-60 in 2.5-seconds. From 0-to-200, the GT pulls out a 15.9 second run, that will demolish the Bugatti Veyron by almost 9 seconds.
The video you found over on Autoblog.com shows the Venom GT on the dyno making some runs on pump gas. The first run was on 93 octane and 20 pounds of boost making 933 horsepower and 874 pound-feet of torque. Not only were the dyno numbers very impressive but the car shoots what looks to be three foot flames out of the exhaust system. The flames could be a great way to scare your completion away or just roast some marshmallows. Keep your eye out for more boost and race gas, this thing has a lot left in it.
