2.2 rebuild

Cory, a bone stock 5.3 with just a good tune would make that S-10 run like a raped ape. My 5.3 can scoot my big ass Burban and I know my truck weighs more than twice as much as your does.

When I do a swap I want to build the bottom end so it can handle all the stuff I do to the top end down the road. I had a stock 5.3 in a 98s-10 in 06. It ran 14.6 in the 1/4. It will haul some ass but eventually I'd want more.

What do you exactly have planned for the 5.3? Stock 5.3's are known to take abuse well into the 600rwhp range. Boosted or on the juice. Also, if you had a 5.3 in a s-10 and it only ran a 14.6... something was terribly wrong.

I honestly wouldn't waste your money. Throw a stock 5.3 in until it blows up and just buy another one. The money you spend on more stock LS2 stuff, would just buy you another 5.3. And a 07+ 4.8/5.3 have just as strong crank, rods and pistons as an LS2.

Drained the fluids and took everything off that needed to come off to take the timing cover off. If I can put the chain back on without taking the motor out than I'll skip the rebuild and wait for a swap.

Well, I put a new timing kit on today. The old tensioner blew apart and got lodged in the old chain. I'll be cranking it up tomorrow.
