When I do a swap, I don't want a 350. I want a 5.3, 6.0, or a 400ci.

You can get a 5.3 from a junkyard here for around $500 :dunno:
But for a 6.0 they want more than twice that. Probably because 5.3's are a dime a dozen now.

If I had $500 and another couple$$ for some internals that could handle the abuse id put it through, I'd go for it.

I wouldn't even waste my time tearing it apart. I bet you could find a running engine with less than half the miles for $100 if you look hard enough.

Cory, a bone stock 5.3 with just a good tune would make that S-10 run like a raped ape. My 5.3 can scoot my big ass Burban and I know my truck weighs more than twice as much as your does.

I'll never put an engine in anything without taking it apart and checking it out anyways. This ones free. :dunno:

When I do a swap I want to build the bottom end so it can handle all the stuff I do to the top end down the road. I had a stock 5.3 in a 98s-10 in 06. It ran 14.6 in the 1/4. It will haul some ass but eventually I'd want more.

Bottom line is, I'm not ready for a swap. I need my 26mpg truck for a while longer. I'm working an hour away one way till January. After that I'll have enough saved and should have another vehicle to make a daily driver while I do a swap.
