Started installing the rear lower door pillar patch, fit wasn't perfect but it was manageable. Had to cut a slit in the patch and widen it some to get the contours to align. A lot of grinding and it turned out ok.

Next I moved to the front door pillar patch. Man this thing wasn't even close to matching, pulled my hair out for a while trying to reshape it but ultimately ended up slicing it in two. I still have a bunch of welding and grinding but hopefully will finish it today.

Don't you just hate it when you think everything is just right when...BAM, I f'ed up. You definitely have your work cut out for you with this project. As much as I dislike slammed trucks, I can't wait to see the unveiling when you are finished.

Well I finished up the God awful door pillar:lol:

It isn't the prettiest but the rocker panel will cover it up and it won't be seen for another 40+ years.

Decided to blank off the clutch Rod hole, so I cut a piece of metal left over from my patch panels and welded it in.

My sway bar came in this week, far from ready for it but happy to have it. 1 1/4" diameter this thing is a beast.

Weekend update:

Seemed like my ADD kicked in and I didn't get much accomplished.

No sheetmetal work but trying to get setup for blasting the rusty parts of the cab before I do more patch panels. I'll need to lay the cab on it's back when I blast the underside and I don't want to damage a new cab corner in the process! :uhoh:

Bought a sand blast pot at Tractor Supply this past week.

I knew my 15 gallon Craftsman compressor wouldn't keep up so Saturday morning I set out to Lowe's and picked up a new compressor.

I managed to get one frame rail completely blasted and then shot some rattle can primer on it. I was running low on abrasives and Sunday had a chance of rain, so the other frame rail will have to wait.

I pulled the windshield and back glass out of the cab. No big surprise with the rust found in the windshield channel, they all seem to rust there due to the seams. I'll blast the areas and weld the seams then grind them smooth.

The rear channel is about as perfect as you will find.

Hoping for more progress this coming weekend. Gonna pick up some abrasive this week while I'm in Beaumont so I don't have to waste my weekend time chasing it.
