Good to see you got it done. :)

What is up with Ford and those plugs? :dunno: Looks like they want you to take it back to the dealer for work for sure. What a mess.

Makes me very happy that I own a Chevy.
I'd have paid $20 a plug to keep from having to change those plugs. Glad it's finally over with.

Atleast Ford mechanics have plenty of practice on removing broken plugs from heads.

Yeah no kidding

I did know it was coming, but didn't expect 5 to break  Glad it's over with. She runs better now too

My only complaint about this truck is the cam phasers & the spark plugs were two main issues about this truck. I love it other wise. I wondered why Ford didn't do a recall on the spark plugs. But then realized they had these problems for all 4 years of the 5.4 3v

Yeah my old Suburban cost me $8 a plug and did it myself in the driveway.....no problems

Well ordered a new Transmission pan with a drain plug

It was only $62, it is a Ford Factory pan that they used on different transmissions

Gonna try and knock most of this out next week

I noticed on the Amsoil bottles for the gear lube they don't have the tappered filler tips on the bottles. Y'all got suggestions on a funnel or method to fill up the diffs & TC with out them? I was thinking about getting one of these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938631&pf_rd_i=507846

I'm used to this kind of bottle/container:

Yes, get that pump. Sta-Lube makes a great one, I have had a few of them for years.

Good looking thread Jeff, informative too. I will need to do the same here soon as my Lariat is 4k miles from 100k. Only thing is, I have axle code 26, the 3.73 open, I want to put the B6 in. Wonder what all is involved. Would rather bump up to 4.56 while in there but eh, 3.73s work fine, I just want the rear end limited slip again.

Re: 100,000 Mile Maintenance

Glad you got the plugs done.

I have just under 77k on my 04 now. Here's what I've done:

Plugs at 59k
Pan drop on tranny at 65k - going to have it done this summer completely hopefully and my rear diff.
Cops at 75k
FPDM around 65k last year
Recently had sway bar bushings and endlinks done
Fuel filter every spring
New serp belt and idler pulley
Thermostat and new coolant this past fall
Brakes all around (including parking brake) and 2 new calipers... going to have the drivers side done in the next month
PS fluid last weekend
New shocks - lowering in the process in about 2 months and inner and outer tie rods.
Also have steering shaft replaced soon.

I've had some issues with my front end. I am so in tune with the truck I can sense things the mechanics aren't seeing. So I am having the front end re done a bit to make me happy
