I done use corn either. Coil oil sometimes to help with their coat. I use rice bran as a filler, muscle builder, fatening agent.

Any oats?
Yup I run Lonestar feed. Its their track star #2. It does have cracked corn it it. I also use Purine Enrich 32. My horses get there fair share of protein.
I don't know what any of this means. Does it make my steak taste better?
Only if you eat horse. :fume:

It all breaks down to ....

Proteins - essential to growth and repair of muscle and other tissues
Fats - one source of energy and important in relation to fat soluble vitamins
Carbohydrates - our main source of energy
Minerals - those inorganic elements occurring in the body and which are critical to its normal functions
Vitamins - water and fat soluble vitamins play important roles in many chemical processes
Water - essential to normal body function - as a vehicle for carrying other nutrients ...since we..and horses, cows, etc are made of mostly water.

If its in cattle, yes it can make it taste better. Basically you want to fatten up livestock as fast and as big as you can to make better profits.

Cool!

I'd bank on folks who do that stuff knowing all of that. I would imagine that there is a ton of science involved just like anything else. I'm not terribly agricultural as you might guess.

Im just learning myself. Its been years since I have worked with equine. There is a science to it. If they do eat too much (carbohydrates) they can founder or become lame. Its when the bone in the hoof sinks to the bottom of the hoof or can rotate within the hoof.

No hoof, no horse.

It can occur in cattle too.
