'07 F-150 System Revamp

The grommet I'm talking about is under the door sill trim on the rear passenger side. Not sure if you guys have one but it makes life a heck of a lot easier running power wires back there. As far as protecting it, when I did my first install I didn't put anything over it and it was fine. To be safe this time I put 1/2" wire loom over both of them. That will be enough to keep dirt and debris out. As long as the wire isn't cut I don't see a problem. If you want to be extra careful they make this stuff called Tech Flex.

Yeah they don't leave us much room at all. Packaging science at it's finest.

Take some before and after pics of the dog hair--you'll be amazed at the difference. What I did was use a strong little hand vac to get up a lot of it, then used the glove to ball the rest of it up, then used the vacuum again to get the ball of hair up.

I started to look underneath for the grommet(if the grommet excists on mine) but it started to rain.

I'm going to look at the firewall one and underneath again tomorrow. I'm way off on doing it but planning ahead is best.

I'm actually excited about the glove thing. I'll be wondering around the house with one now too.

I called Sonic today about the amp, because I checked their website and it said "Item Received". They said they had tested it and it was defective, so I will be issued a full refund in a week. I don't know why so many people badmouth their customer service---I had no issues at all.

Well everything's been working great except for one little problem. Every so often (very rarely--maybe 1/20 times driving) the audio will completely cut out when I hit a speed bump or anything similar. All my connections are solid so I have absolutely no idea as to what is causing it.

I'll have to pull the back seat off for a while and when it happens glance back to see if the amps completely lose power or not. Then I can start a diagnosis. Not a huge problem at the moment, but something I do want to get fixed asap.



On the bright side, Travis from KCAutoSound shipped out a replacement shock sensor for my CA-671 Remote Start/Alarm. Every so often the alarm would shoot off warning chirps when it was set. This was so annoying to my roommates at night that I started just locking the truck from the inside at night instead of setting the alarm. Travis is hooking me up with a free replacement---he said he's had one or two other sensors do that.

Pretty sure I diagnosed the problem and corrected it. I'll be sure if I don't have any problems within the next few days. Started at the source (battery) and quickly figured out by testing with a multimeter that one of my fuses was a problem. Picked up a 2-pair box at Advance Auto and stuck it in. It fit the housing much better (tighter fit). Amp came right on. Went ahead and replaced the one for the speaker amp, too. All green so far.

Well balls. Both speakers and subs cut out again and were just generally acting weird. Hasn't done it since I put the fuses in, though, so I'm about 95% sure they are the cause. When I got home I popped the hood and readjusted them and everything came back on. Soooo pretty sure that's the cause.


I think they are vibrating in the engine just enough to cause them to have a loose connection, so I'm really going to strap them down. If it does it again I'm just going to order a completely different type of inline fuse. I'm not a big fan of that kind.

you got a pic of the fuse holder you got? Is it just rattling itself loose?
