Does it say "Quadra-Drive II" on the center console below where the shifter is? If it doesn't, it's Quadra-Trac II.
You can also count the bolts on the rear diff... 12 bolt = QDII which has an ELSD in both front and rear diffs (These ELSDs also act as full lockers when fully engaged...
I think what we all seem to forget is that ANY of these trucks will work, and work great. So it really boils down to other factors... personal preference in terms of looks, price vs options, dealership availability, etc.
Commercials are... well... just commercials. If there really was a "best"...
Yeaup...1-2 in the 6spd is 4.02 - 2.36. 1-2 in the 4spd is 3.06-1.75.
So technically, 3.42s in the 6spd is actually equivalent to 4.56s in 1st gear and 2nd gear of the 4spd. Not even a competition at that point if you're going head to head with a truck with 3.73s (common) in the 4spd.
I agree... although mine is the 2007 and they made some major changes to the Hemi in 09/10, my 5.7L Hemi Commander with 3.73 gears is not all that impressive. It's quick, but just doesn't feel as strong as it "should".. especially with 31" tall "baby" sized tires...
Told ya it wasn't the differential
Glad that's all getting taken care of, and under warranty as well!!
I think you should come hang out next saturday... you're do for a nice "relaxing" day
Yeah i used to disconnect it on my explorer as well. It's not an issue of pulling the axle out, its a matter of putting torque through a CV axle at such an extreme angle. Hence i'm 50/50.
My Jeep has a locker in the front axle, so i've been good with keeping the sway bar connected up front...
Add to that the fact that it reduces your ability to maintain control during evasive maneuvers, thereby having a detrimental effect on safety.... just an all around bad idea. Nothing good to be gained...
Yeah... it changes it for the worse.
Now if they're lowered and using really stiff springs that make the ride suck already, its probably not a big deal because of the lower CG and stiffer springs preventing body roll. But for any other vehicle, just don't do it.
Front sway bar also does...
Taking the sway bar off for on-street driving is a horrible idea. There is absolutely NO benefit to removing it.
For offroading, i disconnect my rear sway bar. Thus far i've left the front connected to prevent the CV's from over extending... i'm 50/50 on if its worthwhile to disconnect the...
No issue with heat. The lights are far enough away where they wont affect the performance of the efans. Air is also channeled through that lower section of the bumper and forced through the Rad/condensor.
They're factory upgrades. I came across some aftermarket companies but they're aluminum which I'm not really a fan of.
Zem, I was calling myself the loser for messing up lol.
I'll be damned if it wasn't a PITA to get my dremel back there!!
FWIW, I chose that spot for the switches because they're basically hidden from view there... steering wheel blocks view from the driver and keys block it from passengers. But I couldn't get a good shot to cut with the dremel and...
