Yea but the 215/65/15 is a mustang tire size. What about cougar, 80's tbird, and contour on oem rims?

Dave, a tire size tells you nothing. Just because a tire is that size doesn't mean every wheel it would fit on came on a Mustang.

a 1980's Escort could absolutely handle a 15" wheel

I've already seen some old Escorts with 17" wheels. Bodywork could be rotting away, but had some nice rims

But I've never seen any 80's Escort factory-fitted with wheels bigger than 14", unless a few race-oriented European versions...
