Honda FTW if you go the mini van route.
We love our Acadia, we don't think it is dated.

Suburban
The Sienna is a very nice vehicle and will easily get 25 mpg on the road. The Sienna and Odyssey are the ONLY two vehicles in that class even worth a look. I prefer the drive of the Honda but the Toyota is a great vehicle.
As much as I hate to admit it, it is a far better vehicle for multiple kids than a Suburban. Anybody putting several kids (plus car seats, strollers, etc) in a vehicle every time they go somewhere will appreciate the sliders... BIG TIME.

Slider doors are worth every penny, especially when you have to enter and exit in the pouring rain and with your arms full of kids.![]()
Since you have the General, you can get away with a minivan. AND get the benefit of great gas mileage. But since I don't have a truck, my Suburban doubles as a truck AND a family hauler. Try towing a travel trailer or a boat with a minivan, you can't. But like I said, you will have a separate tow pig for that, so you can have the best of both worlds.
