I do agree with the sentiment expressed by several here that it was time for the rotary to go.

TX, where else should I be?
I've never played with one but I heard they were a pain to work on. Wish I could have had one. I've seen them on the track and they were beasts.

Mazda had a Rotary in a truck in the 70's so yes they do go into trucks.

Rotary engines have oil injection for lubrication.

The 1994 era Rx7 Turbos were cracked out crazy ass rabid wolves in sheep's clothing. Performance it would eat for lunch cars that cost 10 times what it did. I am not talking the panzy ass magazine write ups of the time. Anyone that has ever owned one will know that when you get to know your RX7 and it's Rotary that it a car you can absolutely drive the fWONking piss out off and like a loyal dog it just asks for more!!

Give it couple of mods and watch the hell out!!! The boost levels from the factory were a joke and if you went into the engine and went with Mazda racing apex seals and springs you could wring out tons of power plus a little porting never hurt anything while it's apart...:naughty:

And if you wanted more....you went 3 Rotar engine!!! The big block if you must of the Rotary. I fWONking love Rx7's!!! One of the funnest cars ever built.....nothing like reving to 10k and banging a gear.....it's the only engine I think is available to the general working man that you can just absolutely punish and have fun with for cheap. If you break one you built it wrong, that's what Racing Beat will tell you...:ohnoes:

Only 3 moving parts, two rotars and the assentrick shaft. The trick is some of the specialized tools but actually not terribly expensive. The base with out accessories engine can be handled almost by one person. They are very small. I would strongly suggest looking for an old 80's RX7 and go have some fun!! They can be bought for cheap to almost nothing. When not running most people will get rid of one for scrap.

A little trick with one that has not ran or will not start but your told it ran when I parked it. That is most likey true. You have to have the battery up full or on a boost charger so the engine will spin quickly. You then drip oil down the carb or squirt it tin the fuel injection intake. This seals up the apex seals and get the compression back and it will start. It will smoke like bitch for little bit and then recover and should start just fine.

If one has been over heated the engine is most of the time SOL....but can be fixed. Most of the time they require new housings.

Sorry for the rant....don't be scared of one if you can find one cheap.....go play!!

I heard about that and it is sad I love those engines years back I bought a 88 RX7 for my son and I fell in love with it I tell you the faster one goes in it the better the engine runs.

He had the engine ported and some other stuff and my 5.7 couldn't stay up with it I wouldn't mind getting one for me. The turbo models could get after it.

One of the few engines that as it gets older the better it runs also as long as your taking care of it. Over heating and dirty oil kills em. The bastards can drink some fuel!! And it only gets worse with age and modifications. I want another one bad.....but my 67 Camaro is enough of a project right now. I can talk myself into "other" projects toys too easily :ohnoes:

I have been eying a little 57 Bug though...$900.00 just bare chassis with a rust free body and pan sitting in the Arizona desert. Wife has approved the buy....I keep telling myself NO!!!!!!!! Get that Camaro on the road first....I have been strong and now this fWONking RX7 thread comes up. Damn Clown :pfingers: One of my favorite little cars of all time!! Damn it I want one. Stay away from craigs list I keep telling myself. :uhoh:
