i really worry that even if my truck gets done today, i will have to chase gremlins like Jake had to then wait for parts.

Such is typical with mods, and especially with hotrod diesels.
It is the reason I stopped doing it for truckers on the side
I had a Cummins running so good once that the turbo housing was nearly transparent, and you could see the exhaust turbine spinning

yea bout that haha. working around the house yesterday and today so that might give you an idea. short week and the show today pushed me to monday/tuesday sadly
we both agree that if i would have left the factory fuel bowl then the stock pump or a new stock pump probably could have gotten the job done with the injectors. that and the 2mic cat filter is rated for pressure side and i had it suction side but even bypassing it would do it.
new setup is a 10 micron baldwin fuel/water then the aeromotive to the 2 micron cat filter.
