EDIT: Found a 14bsf for it, but it's from an '88....should fit just fine though.
Needless to say, for $90 the guy had several call on the axle and sold it in 2 days. :(

There's another guy 30min from me that will trade me a 3.42 14bsf 6-lug open diff (with supposedly just over 100k out of an '88) for my 10 bolt 3.42 open diff plus $200. I thought $350 was a little steep for an axle, but searching car-parts.com, that's about the going rate for one that has <200k miles on it.

What do you guys think?

Drove it to work.
Why are you wanting to swap out the 10b?
Mostly for the brakes and added peace of mind. I've thought about disc brakes out back, but that would get kinda spendy and I'd still need to figure out a parking brake. And I'd like to have something a little stronger once the Whipple hits. The plan would be to put a TruTrac in the 14b and use 1/2ton springs with airbags (keep the "decent" ride and added control for towing).

I know there are guys who probably run 10-12sec 1/4mi on a 10b, but I'm guessing a 14b would be cheaper than building up a 10b.

What do you think about the other guy's offer?

Drove it.

You have a steering stabilizer? I don't think I do and I have the Z71 package. Was this a 3/4ton/1ton thing?

Washed it, detailed the interior, Clay Barred and waxed it, took some pictures of it, made a new sig and avatar with it. then drove it around and got it dirty cause it warmed up today.

*BTW this thread should be moved to the big thread section were the original thread is, would make it easier to find!
