Everyone has really touched base on what I was going to say. I think the 269 cam is perfectly fine for a mediumish 5.3 build. It's bigger than Dan has in his 6.0. Pair it with a 3k stall and it will move very nicely.

The 212/218 with a stock converter in a RCSB would be pretty fun. Won't have a whole lot off the line, but that's not a horrible thing as far as traction goes. Any reason you're going to do rod bolts on such a mild/simple setup? Most guys don't do the rod bolts unless they're going to be boosted, or spinning the crap out of the engine (I'm still on the stockers). Also, how man miles are on the 5.3?

Just rolled 70K miles.

He just wanted to go in once, and upgrade any of the "easier" things that might pose a problem. The bolts seem to pop up in a lot of people's opinions. Not a big deal, I suppose.

Cool. Just be careful of the o-ring on the oil pump/pickup tube when you're reinstalling the pump, tons of people pinch the o ring, have no oil pressure, and have to do it all over again.

Then get the BB tune to set the red line at 7200 and shift at 7k!

I loved my cam on my Tahoe, but I didn't want anything noisy. I had the 208/212 115LSA, was perfect for NA and FI, not to mention economical for a DD.

I loved my cam on my Tahoe, but I didn't want anything noisy. I had the 208/212 115LSA, was perfect for NA and FI, not to mention economical for a DD.
