So pretty much since I have owned the truck(coming up on 2 years ) my ABS AND brake light come on shortly after I start driving. To lazy to go out and take a pic,but you know the symbol (!)(P).

I THOUGHT it was in conjunction with the ABS light and warning of the module being fwonked. Last week I pulled my rear calipers and rotors and painted them red and the brackets black. :fingertime:
When I removed the passenger side rotor a shit ton of brake dust was in there. Comparing the two sides visually it was apparent the one side of the horseshoe (for lack of a better term) was CONSIDERABLY worn.:fume: When reinstalling the rotor and caliper it didn't seem to spin as I thought it should and seemed to drag.( at first I thought it was because I got overspray on the rotor's brake pad surface  )which for those of you NOT as stupid as me it WILL wear off after a few dozen (or so) hard stops while making a HORRIFIC squealling sound EACH AND EVERY FWONKING TIME. :ohnoes: :frustration: but I digress.......
.
Although on several ocasions( and ESPECIALLY after seeing that) I have checked and RE checked that my Park Brake release was well.... released.

Is it possible this whole fwonkin' time that (for some reason) the cable is improperly tensioned, OR (based on watching a how to replace them video) could the "horse shoe" not be clipped in the bottom bracket (or bottom bracket broken) or some shit.:dunno:

Tearing this ALL back apart without having a course of action in place does NOT appeal to me. I plan on buying a new clip/bracket "just in case" and obviously E brake pad. Is there a way to adjust the tension or something that I need to be aware of to prevent this from continueing.:dunno:

You want to adjust the emergency brake?? On the drivers side frame rail there is the park brake cable. Towards the back of the truck there is an adjustment bolt on it.

You can back off your e-brake, that may help. I was having problems with mine sticking so I just backed the adjustment clear back and it doesn't stick anymore.

Thanks. I'll put that on the "to do" list for tomorrow.

For some reason I thought it was simultanious to both sides and if it was fwonkin' up on one side it would do the same on the other.:dunno:

I just feel like a :loser: for NOT clarifying the idiot light sooner.

and as anal as I am about my truck at that.:(

E-brake is only on one side, mine is the back drivers side. Most likely yours is to.

Mine seems to grab both sides... When parking on a hill, it doesn't have that initial pull to either side when you put the weight on it...

My blazer did, because one of the e-brakes wasn't catching

It definetly is on both sides.

To add further as to just how stupid I can be sometimes. BOTH my Haynes AND Chiltons shows how to adjust the e-brakes includung the interior adjusting wheels.

The only reason I can think of as to why I posted BEFORE reading either, is because my proctologist doesn't make house calls on Sundays so my head is still lodged in my anal cavity.:(

Thanks Jim. Never heard of Helminc. That would be a wise investment..

Yeah Chiltons USED to be the shit. Now it's almost the same as Haynes with a different cover.

Trust me... the Helm manual is the only way to go...
Here is a brief description of what is in it..

http://www.helminc.com/helm/product...m=result&Style=helm&Sku=GMT09CK9PU&itemtype=N

Been there... done that...with the CHiltons and Haynes.
I too used to like Chiltons...but they are not as good as they used to be...
Check on ebay... you can usually find the factory Service manuals pretty cheap...
